The Great Ape

The Great Ape is a deity who takes the form of a gigantic, transparent ape of the Sunshie Eraser species--though unlike ordinary Sunshine Eraser Apes, the Great Ape has no liver. This latter attribute is seen as extremely important by the Ape's worshippers, the Liverlessositans, who in fact believe (incorrectly) that ordinary Sunshine Eraser Apes are also liverless.

Liverlessositans believe that a series of twenty-three thick volumes that they call the Texts of Deliverance embody the first and last words of the Great Ape, who no longer communicates to his mortal followers in words, but instead only in excitable primate gestures and sounds.

A handful of fringe Liverlessositans adhere to the belief that the Great Ape manifests in two or more parallel universes and is, in fact, devoted to maintaining balance between or among these universes. This belief is not widely shared (or even known about) among mainstream Liverlessositans, however.
