The Sprite Shaws

 

Sprites rarely respect the borders (or other boundaries) made by the other races, and powerful Humans are notorious for drawing up borders in a way that ignore the rights of aboriginal cultures, so perhaps it should not be surprising that the Sprite Shaws cross right over the Toswald border into Clogscrag Ablate. This is a forest region inhabited by traditional sprite cultures. A substantial Mighty Equestrian Crusaders of Incorruptible Righteousness presence intends to get rid of the sprites on their side of the border, but has so far been too busy transforming a corrupt democracy into a gloriously feudal kingdom (see Clogscrag Ablate).

 

There are twenty-six distinct sprite societies in the Sprite Shaws, but only another sprite would be able to tell the difference between them. Most knowledgable people fear the idea of passing through the Sprite Shaws, as the chances of getting through without being inconvenienced by multiple practical jokes are practically nonexistent. Most of the jokes sprites play are ultimately harmless, like putting out campfires and getting into philosophical debates with you at inconvenient moments. But they might also steal your possessions or lodge your wagon in the trees, and recent studies by the Keepers of the Omnicodex as of 995 have established that a full one percent of travelers emerge from the area with an asses’ head where their original head used to be.
