Merri

Full Name: Merriwhether Roundbottom

Merri grew up in the hobbit slums of Hinkerville. She is the oldest of 15 children, and her family is very poor. She was raised with traditionally good values, but she also had a strong sense that the laws of Hinkerville were made by rich humans to reinforce their dominance in the current power structure and that these laws often do not apply to hobbits. Merri's father was never happy with the family's lot in life and was always looking for ways to get ahead, and Merri inherited some of his restlessness and his attraction to power. One night she had a dream that she was destined to bear the child of a god and that she was to remain a virgin until that time. On the strength of her belief that this dream was prophetic, she left her family in search of her destiny and found Kale. She was immediately attracted to his air of power and authority and his emotional intensity, so she started living and working at Kale's tree and learning the adventurer lifestyle from Kale. She soon discovered the thrill of living outside the law and participating in combat. The more Kale taught her, the more she fell in love with both him and his adventurous lifestyle. To justify these feelings for herself, she accepted Eagle's assertion that Kale is a god and at Eagle's request, she continued his project of writing down the tenets of The Way of Kale. She has also trained in combat skills, and she is currently a hobbit warrior in the Fast Track campaign.

Family relationships: She is a cousin of Xy and daughter of Hinkerville's clone master, Rothard. Also, under the influences of amnesia and Potion Deux she spent a passionate night with Kale and now finds herself "in a family way" with his child.

Merri's words to live by: "I knew it was illegal--I just didn't know I shouldn't do it!"
