Introduction to GygaxiaIntroduction to Gygaxia
Stripped down to basics, Gygaxia is essentially a fantasy campaign setting that also provides a whole lot of assistance for making funny, dramatic fantasy games with elements from just about every genre imaginable thrown in. You can play it as presented or rip off elements for your own game. At its heart, Gygaxia is traditional sword and sorcery fantasy, but with superheroes, conspiracies, aliens, giant mechanical battle machines, philosophical movements, weird spells, strange monsters, and people who know that their universe is really a roleplaying game. In Gygaxia, corporations struggle for control in soda wars, necromancy is an industry, and governments work to master travel through the heavens. There are still the same knights, monks, and clerics, but here the knights might wear advertisements, the monks might wear plate mail, and the clerics might not wear anything at all.
Unlike more conventional fantasy games, Gygaxia encourages you to explore your wackiest creative impulses and immerse yourself in a universe where just about anything imaginable can and does happen, given the right set of circumstances. Gygaxia is about fun, creative storytelling taking place (usually) in a fantasy setting.
Gygaxia uses the Story Arc system, which is available to you for free. Story Arc is a simple system designed to maximize good storytelling. Previous: Legalese, Credits, and Disclaimers Next: What’s Fantasy Roleplaying?
