Introduction to Character Advancement

We assume that in most Story Arc games, after a session ends, the GM assigns the player characters experience points to reward them for their tribulations. These experience points are identical to those given to a starting character and can thus be used for all the same things at the same costs, with the exception of Benefits and Drawbacks, which can only be purchased at character conception. The number of experience points a character gets after an adventure varies depending on her actions in the adventure itself.

There are no levels in Story Arc, but you can still keep track of your power in levels by keeping track of the number of experience points you have and dropping two digits off the end to describe your level. This means that a character with 321 experience points is third level, while a character with 798 points is seventh level (almost eighth).
