Drough

Drough (rhymes with "how") are a combination of elves and orcs. They are sometimes referred to as “dark elves.” Strangely they retain all of the outward characteristics of elves and have none that orcs possess, save strikingly dark eyes and a slightly greenish tint to the skin. In some drough cultures, this greenish tint is often completely obscured by a tradition of covering the entire body with a solitary solid black tattoo. This ritual has its roots in ancient times, when was used to remain obscured in the dark (drough are typically nocturnal), though today it is sometimes just done for reasons of style.

Passionate and intense, drough are extremely clever and capable of complex feats of duplicity. Their capacity for calculated action surpasses that of either of their parent races, and they are notorious for developing schemes which take years to pay off (but which pay off big when they do). Like both orcs and elves, drough tend toward extreme emotions, especially when they don't get their way, and they have a great deal of difficulty controlling their passions. Unlike an orc who may simply attack you if her will cannot prevail, however, a drough is more likely to plot revenge in a larger and more considered fashion.

The idea of ordering things according to their own particular aesthetic tastes appeals to a lot of drough. They make excellent architects, landscapers, politicians, and evil masterminds when they set their minds to these tasks. They also have a keen sense of style, which makes them excellent fashion designers, and they are reputed to be more than competent breadmakers.
