The Cobbler

The Cobbler, sometimes called the gamemaster, is a being who controls those events within Gygaxia that are not controlled by The Players, most particularly the actions of non-player characters.

Because the Cobbler exists outside of gameality, she or he is generally not considered to be a character. However, on some occasions, player characters have been able perceive or infer the existence of the Cobbler. Most notably, an organization called the Meta-Oracles of the Sacred Polyhedra makes influencing the decisions of the Cobbler their life's work. Others characters who are at least to some extent aware of the existence of the Cobbler include Suppel Gans and his followers Pershumo, Kant, and Zerod. Clod has also expressed interest in the Cobbler, but Clod's exact beliefs on the matter are unknown to any but him.

Other individuals on the Fast Track are also aware of the concept of the Cobbler, thanks mostly to Suppel. However, they do not believe in or even fully grasp the Cobbler's nature. At worst, nonbelievers tend to regard the Cobbler as a foolish delusion; at best, they think of Cobbler as just another god and those who worship her or him as strange or eccentric.
