Attributes
In Story Arc, your character has seven Attributes. These are your most fundamental characteristics (mechanically speaking), and one of them governs everything you do that requires a roll. For the most part, these are pretty standard roleplaying Attributes; they all do about what you would expect them to do.
- Strength: Your ability to exert physical force. At zero or less, you are too weak to move or even stand.
- Dexterity: Your ability to maneuver and react quickly. At zero or less, you cannot keep your balance or hold an object.
- Endurance: Your ability to hold out under physical pressures. At zero, you drop unconscious; below zero, you die.
- Willpower: Your resolve and self-discipline. At zero or below, you enter a catatonic state, completely unable to make any decisions; you will merely stare blankly ahead.
- Charisma: Your ability to charm, persuade, and influence people, and the strength of your personality. At zero or below, you are totally unable to use words or communicate at all.
- Intellect: Your ability to reason, recall information, and process data. At zero or below, you are a mindless vegetable incapable of reasoning or comprehending the most basic of concepts.
- Intuition: Your awareness of your environment and inner processes. At zero or below, you are without insight and totally unable to perceive your environment.
For a generic human character to develop a single point in an Attribute, it costs 8 times the rating of the Attribute you wish to reach. For example, for a human to develop his Endurance from a 2 to a 3, it costs 24 experience points (8 x 3); for a human to develop his Intellect from 1 to 2, it costs 16 experience points (8 x 2). All Attributes start at 1.
Characters who aren't strictly human have variable Attribute multipliers. The multiplier for your type of character goes in the "Multiplier" box so that you can remember it when you want to spend experience points to raise Attributes.
