Action Points

Games played with Story Arc can, optionally, have Action Points, which are used to give a character extra success (or prevent failure) when she attempts actions. These are acquired in different ways depending on the game. The most obvious way to allow them in your game is to allow them to be purchased with experience points just like Attributes and Skills. The going rate for an Action Point slot under this system is 8 times the rating you want to attain. Thus, to give 1 point to a character who has 0 Action Points, spend 8 experience points; to give 5 points to a character who has 4, spend 40 experience points.

The default rule is that characters regain spent action points when she accomplishes a goal she considers significant. Some game may make exceptions to this for some or all types of characters.

The "Max" line on the character sheet is to write down the number of Action Points (slots) your character has at maximum. The boxes are for displaying the current total (put an "X," or a small happy face, in one box for every Action Point your character has).
